Second Tuesday is just around the corner – only one week away.  This month, we are going to try something new.  Not only will we have a food theme, but we will also have a topic of interest to cover.  Last month, some expressed that it might be nice to talk about more than just work and home life.  Let’s see how it goes!  Be sure to invite your friends for your own Second Tuesday!

This month’s food them – Mexican!  Last month, everyone enjoyed working together to make our homemade pizzas, of which the ‘pesto with veggies and mozzarella’ won as best tasting.  Thus, we thought making fajitas this month would be perfect.  For the vegetarians in our group, we are going to try black beans and any other surprises they bring along.  I can’t wait for homemade guacamole, salsa, chips, and fajitas.  Hmmmm!  What should our dessert be?

One friend was so excited about the Mexican theme that she already dropped off Skinny Girl Margarita. In case you have not heard, Bethenny Frankel from one of the Real Housewives shows has created her own brand of Skinny Girl products in hopes that women can still eat and drink but not gain the weight.  While I think this is crazy, it is also brilliant.  We’ll be sure to let you know how it tastes!

The chosen topic for the month is The Middle East.  Given the nearly daily changes to what is going on and how it is impacting their society and frankly, the world, I think it is important we get up to speed and start having opinions about it.  Yes, there are newspapers, TV news, and blogs about the topic, but having a conversation about it will be educational and well, interesting!  One of the areas that is of great interest to me is, “Why now?”  These leaders have been in place for decades.  Why now?  I think social media has played a huge role in this.

I sent the following link to my group to start getting them up to speed on Egypt and encouraged them to bring their thoughts, opinions and articles.

Another new addition this month will be nametags.  While we are keeping the group small – cap of 12 – we noticed that even last month, we had a tough time keeping track of each other.
