Wednesday night – date night!  For the first three years of our relationship, we were religious about date night on Wednesday nights.  It all started because when I first met Jon, I went to Gilda’s Club to help deal with my mom’s cancer and then her death.  Afterwards, I would meet him for dinner in the city and then head back to New Jersey.  Even when I stopped going to Gilda’s, we kept our Wednesday night date nights.

Over time, we moved date night to Friday and called it Pizza Night.  Living in this great city where we have access to the best of everything, it was quite easy and fun to find a new pizza place to try.  We even shared our tradition with others and came across some great places we would never have found on our own.  Our “Top Five” list even ended up on our wedding invitations so people could try them while in the city for our wedding.  (See below for our list.)

Then wedding planning happened.  Then the honeymoon.  Then married life.  Then new jobs, with one of us starting our own business.  We realized, “What happened to date night?”  So we are back to our commitment and going easy on ourselves – once per week on whatever day works!

I loved pizza night and still love pizza, but I am looking for a new idea to keep us excited about date night.  Now that I am posting on Twitter and Facebook, I thought this would be a good time to get your ideas.
