I am excited to report that my favorite yoga instructor, Emilie Smith, will be teaching a class just for Second Tuesday this coming May. I discovered Emilie after trying out various instructors at Reebok Sports Club in hopes of finding a good weekly workout routine, mixed with cardio, weights, and yoga. Often, my work schedule dictated which classes I could take each day, which is how I found Emilie. She teaches a class called Yoga for Athletes.
Not knowing what I was in for, I attended the class and have been a big fan since! You see, back in 2005, I ran the New York City Marathon, which I trained for in just one year. This was probably not the best idea because ever since, I have had issues with my left side – shoulder, hips, legs. I have tried chiropractors and physical therapists, none of whom could do much to make the pain go away. Once I started taking Emilie’s class, I began to learn yoga poses I have never seen before, many of which I now use to stretch on days I run or lift weights. These poses have stretched my body in ways never stretched before, and I feel like I am in heaven when in Emilie’s class. I have also learned it takes time for the body to heal.
Given that Emilie’s class has been such an incredible experience for me, I was anxious to share her wisdom with other women, but I was not sure how. After several women approached me about the desire to work out with other women, I immediately thought of asking Emilie if she would teach a class just for Second Tuesday. I kept my fingers crossed that she would be open to teaching a class for Second Tuesday. Thankfully, she was! Below are details about the event.
